The Journey Begins

Autumn 2016, in Somerset

Artist in Residency, Hauser & Wirth

It began with a feeling:

I was exhausted from searching, from pressure, from constant doubt.
Nothing touched me anymore.
Inner turmoil. Outer emptiness.

The perfect moment. The right place:
Autumn 2016, Somerset.

I painted obsessively – hoping something good would come of it.
But everything kept getting darker.
I was in a tunnel. No light, no exit. Just repetition.

So I let go.

And then, suddenly – a black rabbit on white paper.
A moment without intention. And yet full of meaning.

It wasn’t a motif. It was a sign.
A turning point.

I realized:
The world out there is born from what lives inside us.
We are part of a living cycle – in constant exchange.

The rabbit showed me:
Awareness begins within.
And moves outward.

Change begins the moment we’re willing to welcome the unknown.

2018…

When you dare to walk the path, miracles begin to happen.

At first, it feels chaotic.
Messy.
Nothing seems to fit together.

A single rabbit appears.
Then another. And another.
They multiply – not just as figures,
but as impulses, movements, possibilities.

Something begins to take shape that wasn’t there before.

New paths emerge from the unknown:
turns, repetitions, detours.
And suddenly, you see –
even the chaos follows its own kind of order.

You just have to dare to begin –
even without knowing where the road will lead.

2020

When your biggest dream comes true – and then everything falls apart...
In 2020, my Bunny photos were selected for an exhibition in New York.
New York!
I was so proud, so happy.
Everything felt possible.

And then – one day before the opening: lockdown.
Everything closed.
No audience, no exhibition, no moment to share.

I crashed.
Hard.
Into a deep black hole.

Do you know that feeling?
When everything suddenly shifts, you lose control – and fear gets loud?

Down there, in the dark, I felt it.
I saw it.
The fear.

But it didn’t feel like an enemy anymore –
it felt like my Bunny: cautious, alert, quiet.

A guide.

Today I know:
Fear is not against you.
It shows you the way.

If you pause, breathe, and listen – it leads you back.
To your strength.
To your trust.
To the knowing: “I have everything I need inside me.”

Sometimes, a new path begins exactly where you thought all was lost.

2021

Sometimes you just follow a feeling, without really knowing where it will lead. Only along the way do you realize how much can grow from it – step by step, something new unfolds.

2025

Something in me wanted to move on.
Why stay still when new spaces are calling?

Not: What do I want?
But: What can I offer others?

I started making T-shirts.
Putting images on fabric – minimal, a little punky.

Because when something is true,
it can be brought to life again and again –
in new forms, on new materials, in a new language.

Momentum is timeless.
If you feel something is alive,

let it keep flowing.
Always changing.
Always you.
