“Mantra for creativity”

2014

Sometimes a journey leads to unexpected encounters and new sources of inspiration. This was the case during my trip to Israel with architect Zvi Hecker, where I had the opportunity to photograph his works. This exchange with him opened my eyes to a new way of seeing both painting and architecture – two disciplines that may seem different at first glance, but are deeply connected.

The creative processes in both fields are remarkably similar: whether we work with brush and paint or with concrete and steel, the flow of creativity often follows the same principles. We start with a vision we wish to bring to life, but along the way, we must often "think outside the box," act spontaneously, and observe how things evolve to ultimately create something new.

From this connection between painting and architecture, my series Mantra for Creativity was born. It highlights the importance of repeatedly approaching a subject – painting it multiple times, viewing it from different perspectives. Like a mantra that deepens its impact through repetition, this artistic process generates transformative energy. It not only enhances the understanding of the subject itself but also strengthens creative flow. For me, this series has become a symbol of how continuous engagement with a theme can open doors to new creative dimensions.

Creativity needs building blocks to find structure.

Every idea starts as a small spark, but it only takes shape through the use of deliberate building blocks. These are the tools – concepts, techniques, or inspirations – that help organize creative thoughts and give them clear form. Structure in creativity doesn’t limit, it empowers, allowing you to turn seemingly chaotic ideas into something lasting and meaningful.
