To move is better than to be perfect

Good is not enough. It has to be very good. But actually thats not enough either. It has to be better than very good. Perfect would be ideal. But I don’t have the skills to make it perfect. If I have more time, then I’ll definitely be able to come closer to perfection.

I used to think like this. Always wanting to do everything perfectly takes a lot of time and patience. Driven by the inner thoughts that I was not good enough, everything I did was not good either. “It should be better because its not perfect” was a constant thought in my head. Because I could not understand the drivers of my actions, I was unaware of the impact it had on my life.  Striving for perfection was part of me - and part of my success.

Because in my head, it was not perfect or enough, I could never begin.

If I'm honest with myself, these reasons were excuses for me not to take the next step. I stayed in my comfort zone.

Perfectionism gets in the way the most. It holds you back. Perfection holds me back because: I have too little experience, not enough resources, my knowledge is missing.

If you take action you make mistakes. But if you don’t take action, you miss out on the chances of life.

Do you also have reasons like this that prevent you from taking the next step? For me, its perfection which makes me create excuses. I hope my paintings from this period remind you to take the next step.

To make a work is better than to strive for perfection!

This series was the first figurative works that I created after my graduation. During this time I worked as a colour specialist for a company that sold art materials for artists. For the first time I was able to paint with the finest quality materials. It was like driving a Bentley. A thing that triggers a very special feeling. A very special kind of joy. A tingling sensation! A dab of colour and the vibrancy popped out.  You are blown away. The painting is not completely perfect, but the colours have power. Colours have impact on us without us noticing it. Use the energy of these colours to take actions, otherwise you miss out on the possibilities of life.
